About

First of all, I love working with children and I love my job because I feel like being able to help children is my life purpose. Namely, children are at the centre of my work.

My Story

One day, when I was 9 years old, I saw one of my teachers who is specifically a psychology teacher, and I decided to be like her! The days have come and the days have passed, finally, I learned that I am entitled to study at Bilkent University, Department of Psychology in Ankara, Turkey. My undergraduate thesis statement was on ‘Selective Learning in Turkish Children: Accuracy and Accent Comparison’ with Assist. Assoc. Dr. Hande Ilgaz and Assist. Assoc. Dr. Jedediah Allen, in 2014.

Graduation

After my graduation, I had turned back to İstanbul which is my home town. In those years, I have participated in many voluntary activities: Juvenile delinquents in the courthouse, being an assistant psychologist in kindergarten, refugees, a psychiatric hospital, “Çağdaş Yaşamı Destekleme Derneği (CYDD)” are a few of them that have remained in my memories and taught me many things about my professional life. I gratefully remember all the volunteer work I have participated in. After some time, I decided to study a bit more and graduated with a Master degree in Addiction Psychology from Istanbul Gelisim University in 2019.

Beginning

It was 2014 when I became a school psychologist in a kindergarten for 2 years, and also started working individually in the clinic with children in İstanbul. After 2 years, I continued my professional life with only individual sessions in clinics. I would never have left the Kocaeli Empati Psychotherapy Centre, which I enjoyed working with, if I had not come to the other side of the world! In the office life where we are like a family, I have experienced that nothing can stand in the way of being together, ethical values, cooperation and the importance given to improvement. I will remember all of them with good memories for the rest of my life.

Now

However, the time had come and since my partner is from Australia, it was time to move to Adelaide, Australia. I came to Adelaide in November 2022 and started working as a “Registered Play Therapist” with Play Therapy SA in February 2023. Although I don’t know where the weather will turn out, my only mission is to be a citizen of the world and continue to do my best for the children of our world.
